BIOGRAPHY
Gary Kerr is a Senior Managing Director for Greystar Development Services in the Northeast region. Gary is responsible for managing new development projects and expanding the development pipeline for Greystar in Massachusetts, New York, Northern New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont, as well as leading the life sciences investment platform based in Boston. While at Greystar, he has capitalized over $3B of vertical development, has led the development of over 3,500 units of multifamily and over 2,000 beds of student housing in the Boston and New York markets, as well as two million square feet of speculative life science and 400,000 square feet of speculative industrial opportunities in Boston.
Previously, he served as a Managing Director of the Boston-based Cronin Development, Senior Director at New York–based Tishman Speyer, and held senior roles at MIT Investment Management Company.
Gary has been active in the industry since 2005 and has led the development and capitalization of multiple large-scale, ground-up developments of various asset classes, including residential, office, industrial, and life science. He previously led the redevelopment of Boston’s iconic Pier 4 and worked on the master-planning entitlement of over one million square feet of commercial development in the Kendall Square submarket of Greater Boston. Gary is active in leadership roles with NAIOP and the Urban Land Institute, is a frequent speaker at industry events, and is regularly quoted in the media.
Gary received a bachelor of arts in Business from Saint Anselm College as well as a bachelor of science in Mathematics from Queens University. He also earned a Master of Science in Construction and Real Estate from the University of Reading and a Master’s of Business Administration from Boston College.
