Developed by Greystar, Ascent South Lake Union was the Seattle neighborhood’s first residential tower. The 25-story luxury apartment high-rise opened at the end of 2019 and won the 2019 Skyline Award for the multifamily/high-rise category. Ascent provides much-needed upscale housing in a neighborhood suddenly dense with new commercial office buildings. There are 251 contemporary apartments to choose from, comprising of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes and six sought after luxury penthouses.

In the technology-focused South Lake Union neighborhood, Ascent is an architectural tribute to both the ones and zeros that make our digital lives possible, and the Pacific Northwest’s ubiquitous water in many forms. The building’s pixelated patterning alludes to rain drops, and is achieved through fractured, vertical ‘light’ and contrasting ‘dark’ window wall spandrel playfully composed around vision glass. The project is married to Marlow, a mid-rise structure, also designed by Weber Thompson.

Residents benefit from an enviable collection of amenities including a 2,600-square-foot fitness center, an organic green roof, pet spa, rooftop lounge and spa - with views of the Downtown skyline, South Lake Union and Space Needle -, a business center, and 520 parking spaces. Additionally, some apartments include private balconies and patios. The building is LEED Gold certified and includes a 12,000-square-foot retail component.

In August 2021, Blackstone paid Greystar $302.8 million for 432 units in Seattle, the 251-unit Ascent South Lake Union and the 181-unit Marlowe, marking the largest multifamily deal closed in the metro this year.
