As part of our team member milestones series, we’re delighted to feature Karin Koks, Managing Director of Portfolio Management in Europe. With a passion for collaboration and a commitment to excellence, Karin has played a key role in shaping our residential investment strategy, working closely with investors and teams to deliver outstanding results.

In this blog article, Karin reflects on her journey at Greystar, the culture that inspires her, and her vision for the future of Build-to-Rent across Europe.

 

 

What attracted you to Greystar?

“From the very first conversation about the role at Greystar, I was very enthusiastic about the pan-European residential strategy as a great next step in my international career in fund management. The strong team culture, striving for excellence together, was very appealing and clearly came to light during the various conversations with leadership. Participating in an exciting strategy to create the new generation rental product and working closely together with a group of very talented people was a strong motivation for me to join Greystar.”

What keeps you at Greystar?

“My first five years at Greystar have been a real rollercoaster ride, with the launch of the Greystar flagship product and creating the first portfolio of next-generation rental products. In my role as Head of Fund Management, I very much enjoy the close interaction with the investors on the one hand and the investment professionals and asset management teams on the other hand, making sound investment decisions and executing on all asset business plans. I am very motivated by the residential investment product we are working on together with people from various backgrounds and nationalities.”

How would you describe Greystar’s culture?

"For me the aspects of the culture I value most are the transparency and open communication and striving for excellence with a team approach. How this has contributed to my personal growth is for example having in depth strategic conversations with senior leadership about investment decisions, alongside a strong research team. I feel very privileged working with this talented and highly motivated group of people in the European Build-to-Rent industry.”

What are you most looking forward to about Greystar’s future?

“What excites me looking into the future is delivering and managing a growing number of high-quality, amenitized products for residents in the urban environment in Europe, which is the investment product that institutional investors are looking for.”
